
The Society for Hospitality & Foodservice Management (SHFM), the pre-eminent national association serving the needs and interests of executives in the corporate foodservice and workplace hospitality industries, has announced its 2020-2021 Board of Directors.
Damian Monticello, the senior manager, corporate hospitality services at GuideWell, is SHFM’s new president. In his professional role, Damian is responsible for serving the foodservice needs of more than 15,000 employees throughout the GuideWell family of companies. Additionally, he is responsible for, The Conference Center at Florida Blue, audio-visual services, corporate travel, employee fitness centers, and the GuideWell Athletic Complex; an on-site athletic court/field facility designed to engage employees and improve their overall health through participation in intramural sport leagues.
Damian joined GuideWell (then known as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida) in 2003 from the commercial restaurant industry. His responsibilities at that time were solely for the foodservice operation which consisted of three cafés. His previous professional roles include general manager for Roadhouse Grill and The American Café, as well as food and beverage manager for The Ritz-Carlton. While with the Ritz-Carlton, Damian co-led a team that redesigned the In-Room Dining department. The new design led to a 50 percent reduction in cycle time needed for setting up an order for delivery. Additionally, Damian received the Foodservice Director of the Month award from Foodservice Director Magazine in May 2005 for transitioning operations from subsidy to profit generating without the need for any type of price increase. Damian holds a degree in Advertising from Northwood University.
