The future of the restaurant industry will be explored through the lens of the 2018 Theme, “Cooking with Respect: Better People, Better Food”

StarChefs recently dropped the full presenter lineup for its 2018 International Chefs Congress, October 21st to 23rd at the Brooklyn Expo Center. This year, the program is defined by the theme “Cooking with Respect: Better People, Better Food.” The Congress will bring together leaders from around the globe to define what’s good—in kitchen culture, cuisine, and the profession itself—as well as exploring the behaviors and practices that need to be rooted out. There’s an inextricable link between great hospitality, a safe and happy workplace, and exceptional food and drink. Together at the Congress, hospitality professionals of all stripes will strengthen and enrich that connection, and return to their crew with the energy, techniques, and vision to make their business—and this industry—something everyone can be proud of.

StarChefs 2018 International Chefs CongressOne of the most highly anticipated Main Stage discussions, “A Path Forward: Women in the Kitchen,” will be lead by Dominique Crenn, Kerry Diamond, Tanya Holland, and Danny Meyer. “Respect Your Mind, Body, and Time,” a conversation about self care, will kickoff the Congress programming with Chefs Jason, Alley, Jeremy Fox, Matt Jennings, and Elise Kornack each sharing their own experiences.

“StarChefs is bringing industry authorities together to address and deconstruct issues, and share tools people can take back to their workplaces to make it a safer, healthier place for all,” says StarChefs CEO/EIC Antoinette Bruno. “Main Stage presenters will reflect on mental and physical health, sobriety, and self-care, as well as discuss ways they’re working (and we can all help) to address long-standing barriers for women in the industry and put a hard stop on sexual harassment. And in a business seminar, ‘How to Spot and Stop Sexual Harassment,’ attendees will learn practical tools that they can follow.”

“The Congress is historically a place to see a forecast of food trends. Over the course of three days, the most forward-thinking culinary professionals present what they’ve been working on to their peers,” says Will Blunt, StarChefs managing editor. “As always, attendees will also discover new techniques and equipment to take back to their own restaurants.”

StarChefs’ 2018 International Chefs Congress will gather more than 160 of the world’s most influential chefs, pastry chefs, bartenders, sommeliers, restaurateurs, and artisans to lead conversations and present this year’s dining trends. Nearly 2,000 attendees who work in the industry will have the opportunity to witness high-level cooking demos, engage in business seminars, and participate in hands-on tasting and techniques workshops. At the Chefs Products Fair, manufacturers and purveyors from around the world showcase cutting-edge products such as top-of-the-line kitchen equipment, specialty foods, chef tools, wines, and spirits.
