Mid-Atlantic restaurant and food service operators came out in force once again for last month’s annual Singer Equipment show. The 31st annual edition held at the firm’s home in Elverson. PA featured some 300 manufacturers displaying their newest products.
“The show offers many of our customers the opportunity to actually demo and see many of the new products in action,” noted Singer Equipment President Fred Singer. The year’s event also celebrated the firm’s 100th anniversary at the show with special buys, prizes and giveaways.
The annual event is the latest for a company that is celebrating such an important milestone by making major industry news.

Last Fall, the company announced the acquisition of the business of Ashland Equipment, located in Belcamp, MD. Ashland Equipment is the leading foodservice equipment contract dealer in the greater Maryland and Virginia market, serving as the kitchen equipment contractor of choice for major healthcare, higher education, K-12, business and industry, and restaurant operators.
“With the addition of the outstanding contract equipment team at Ashland Equipment, the combined company will be able to provide solutions to our customers over a broader geography,” Fred Singer noted.
With an eye towards building the management team needed to grow the enterprise, Michael Greenwald has joined the company as Vice President. “Michael is a perfect fit for us on so many levels,” Singer noted. “He has relationships that run deep with many manufacturers and consultants in our industry. Michael will help us with two key initiatives across the company – improving and enhancing our IT infrastructure and procurement model.” For Greenwald, the new position marks his return to his roots. Mr. Greenwald worked for 15 years at M Tucker, now a division of Singer, as the head of the equipment and contract division of the company.
