In late October, world leaders will gather in Glasgow, Scotland for the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, not a moment too soon based on the recently released terrifying UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report. The report’s lead contributor Michael Mann sets more than a tone, his is a most terrifying warning “Bottom line is that we have zero years left to avoid dangerous climate change because it is here” that must be heeded as everyone’s call to action.
The report establishes a clearly undeniable link between human behavior and accelerated rising temperatures by as much as 1.5 degrees Celsius. Consequently, immediate change in human behavior is needed to reverse these trends–all human behavior. On October 12th, Total Food Service and the Day & Nite family of companies is hosting a vital Hospitality Sustainability and Food Waste Summit, its purpose to unite our industry with meaningful behavior changes and actions we can all take in our business to reduce carbon emissions, eliminate waste and adopt sustainable practices.
The Summit will feature 3 expert panels, the first will tackle the all-important Localizing Global Sustainability, a model for changing those behaviors.
