Lessing’s Food Service Management, a division of the  Lessing’s Hospitality Group in Great River, NY, has announced the hiring of industry veteran, Matthew Lackmann, formerly of the Compass Group and Lackmann Culinary.

Lackmann assumed the role of Southern New York Regional Director in early August. He brings more than thirty-years of experience to Lessing’s Food Service Management and has a proven track record of operational success. “We are thrilled to welcome Matthew to the Food Service Management team,” said Director of Food Service Management, Kevin Lessing. “We are confident in his abilities, and that with his experience and passion for the industry, he will take the Southern New York region to new levels.”

As the new Southern New York Regional Director, Lackmann will oversee all operations of the area. He will be responsible for all accounts, as well as employee training, budgeting, new product development, inventory control and streamlining purchases, with the overarching goal of developing business. “I was delighted to accept the position as Southern Regional Director with Lessing’s,” said Lackmann. “They’re a remarkable group that takes an innovative approach to the food business. We share a familiar passion and I am excited for the future of this region and division.”

Prior to joining Lessing’s Food Service Management, Lackmann served as the Vice President of Sales for Cardinal Foods out of Secaucus, New Jersey. As one of the company’s original employees, he grew the business to just over three million dollars within its first two years of operation. Preceding his tenure at Cardinal Foods, Lackmann worked with the Compass Group after his family business, Lackmann Culinary, was acquired by the group in 2009. As CEO and Senior Vice President, he focused on strategy, leadership, innovation and his customers. Lackmann was responsible for overseeing all operational duties of more than thirty key accounts including The New York Stock Exchange, Tiffany & Co., Raymond James Financial, and Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi. With his steadfast leadership and operational efficiencies, Lackmann led the Compass Group to exceed its financial goals in succedent years.

Lackmann is committed to the food service industry and the community it serves. He is a member of the Society of Food Management and is a recipient of the prestigious “40 Under 40 Award,” an honor presented by Long Island Business News to top executives under forty years of age. He is also a long-time and active member of the Big Brother Big Sister organization and an annual participant of Cycle for Survival and the MSK Pediatric Holiday Toy Drive, both to benefit the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Out of the office, Lackmann enjoys being with his family and coaching youth sports. He currently resides in Manhattan with his wife and four daughters.
