The technology of the restaurant and foodservice industry is constantly changing. As kitchen equipment has become more complex, service companies have had to do the same. Malachy Parts & Service, a commercial kitchen equipment service company located in New Jersey, have announced their recent acquisition of New York based Service Masters Inc. The acquisition will allow the company to expand into New York and the five boroughs.

“I’ve always wanted to expand the company either organically or through acquisition,” said Malachy CEO, Rich Malachy. “We’re a small business and with that comes a small business’ budget. We held off on expanding because we could not afford to buy a 20 to 30-man company. I’ve known Vincent Pavlovsky, the owner of Service Masters, and his brother Joe for years. After a great conversation with Vinny, I knew they would be the perfect fit for us. They are a small, experienced business here in NYC for 20 years! This now allows us access into New York and the 5 Boroughs including Long Island & the Hamptons, which has always been a dream of mine.”

As for what the new acquisition means to Malachy and their mission, Malachy has the answer. “Over the course of the past ten or so years we’ve had to choose whether to be a parts company that provides service, or a service company that sells parts,” said Malachy. “We are a service company through and through, that is what we were built on. We stopped focusing on parts sales and really focused on providing the best possible service to our customers. As the Internet has changed the game, we have emphasized our brand mantra of caring for our customer. That’s where Malachy Cares comes in, we have to care about our employees first and put quality people both in our buildings as well as in our vans. We pride ourselves on treating people the right way, providing good services and fair prices and through our acquisition of Service Master we can bring that mission to the city of New York.”

In addition to growing their company physically, Malachy has also helped to grow industry knowledge and expertise through their use of social media. “Over the last five years we’ve really doubled down on our social media presence,” said Malachy. “We are focused on creating video content that is available to all members of the industry, whether they be manufacturers, reps, dealers, or service technicians. Through our relationship with the XOI video and training platform, we been able to attract and retain multiple high quality employees, because they have seen our videos and want to be in the know when it comes to all of the new technology in the industry.”

One of the practices that Malachy will be bringing to New York City through their acquisition of Service Masters, is their expanded use of XOI technology. “XOI is a platform that helps us provide transparency to our customers through the use of photos and videos,” said Malachy. “Now, on every job our technicians pull out their tablet or phone and makes both diagnostic and finished product video of their repairs. We find it to be a great tool that builds trust and transparency with our customer, while showing our customer exactly what we did and how we fixed their problem.”

For those wondering how Malachy will use this new acquisition to continue to grow in the market and how they will adapt to the evolving technology, Malachy has the answer. “With our factory authorized partnerships, we are going to be one of the first companies trained in new technologies and our technicians will be some of the first people who understand the new technology,” said Malachy.

The acquisition brings Malachy the opportunity to provide factory service on Middleby’s portfolio of 60 plus equipment brands. “In New Jersey, with Malachy we are Welbilt factory authorized, and Service Master is the only Middleby Advantage factory authorized company in New York. These partnerships help us stay in touch with manufacturers, allowing our technicians to know which parts to carry in their vans, or which parts to have stocked in our warehouse. That way we can speed up repair time and help keep our customers happy.”
