Joe Ferri, CPMR, CFSP of Pecinka Ferri Associates, Little Falls, NJ was announced as the fifty-eighth President of MAFSI, the Manufacturers' Agents Association for the Foodservice Industry during the association's 47th Business Development Conference and Sales Management Forum (SMF) on January 17, 2014 in West Palm Beach, FL.
MAFSI is 65 year-old non-profit trade association comprised of 275 independent manufacturers' representative agencies in the United States, Canada and Mexico engaged in the sales and marketing of commercial foodservice equipment, supplies, tabletop and furnishings.
MAFSI's purpose is to elevate the business and industry practices of their members. In doing so, they better serve their manufacturers, dealers, operators and the industry.
Because of the interdependent relationship between manufacturers and representatives, MAFSI is also committed to the manufacturers that serve our industry – 260 of which are associate members of the association.
Fundamental to manufacturers, of course, is to deliver their product to market in the most efficient and thorough method. Eighty percent of the brand names the industry buys are sold through MAFSI manufacturers’ representatives. MAFSI strongly believes that the independent representative is more closely in touch with markets, consultants, dealers and end users, and therefore with trends in than any other segment in our industry’s various distribution channels.
MAFSI provides a number of services for its members including training and education, business management, sales and marketing and technology, industry policy development including ethical standards development, liaison with other industry groups, biennial conferences, personal networking opportunities, and communication through their bi-monthly e-newsletter, MAFSI Matters.
Ferri was elected by the membership to serve as the 2014 president of the association and the chairman of the board of directors and executive committee. As such, the president’s responsibilities specifically focus on MAFSI’s policies, overall direction, governance oversight and procedures as defined by the association’s strategic plan and annual operating plans. In addition, Ferri represents the membership through attendance at official association meetings at the national level.
Mr. Ferri is in his sixth year as the representative for Region 3 – New York – Metro on the MAFSI national board of directors and was chairperson of the 2010 MAFSI Annual Conference as well as the chairman of the communication committee.
