why whiskeyOn Sunday, March 3rd from 4:00 – 5:30 pm, Tom Fischer, Founder of BourbonBlog.com, will host Why Whiskey.  Attendees will taste previously unreleased whiskeys in New York and discover new Bourbons. This epic tasting is perfect for those who own establishments, bartenders, and anyone who regularly works with spirits, to learn how to enhance their Bourbon and Whiskey programs. On Monday, March 4th from 12:30 – 1:30 pm The Foodservice Council for Women (FSCW) networking panel will feature women leaders in the foodservice industry who are transforming the hospitality industry through their strength, perseverance and forward thinking demeanor’s. Panelists will include Amanda Cohen, Chef/Owner, Dirt Candy (2019 Beacon Award Recipient); Elizabeth Falkner, Chef/Author/Artist; Anita Lo, Michelin Star Chef, 3-Stars New York Times, Iron Chef Winner, Top Chef Winner; and Claire M. Marin, Proprietor, Catskill Provisions.  The panel, moderated by Kathleen Wood, Co-Founder, Foodservice Council for Women will discuss what it takes to succeed in the foodservice industry today. 

On Tuesday, March 5th from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets will host the 9th Annual Farm to City Expo with a focus on Small Business Guide To Perfecting Your Pitch & Disrupting The Marketplace. This workshop is mainly for the small food companies who are looking for ideas on how to differentiate their products and develop a sustainable narrative to help them sell more products and increase investor appeal. The panel will be moderated by Linda LaViolette, Special Assistant, NY Department of Agriculture and Markets.  Speakers will include Christine Rico, Founder, CFO of Speed Dial and Shen Tong, Founder & Managing Partner, FoodFutureCo.

There have also been two new additions to the Center Stage Demonstration Line-up.  On Sunday, March 3rd from 4:00 – 5:00 pm Master Mixologist George Duval and Open Hospitality’s Owner Lisa Lindo will present a Mixology Demonstration.  The duo will prepare and demonstrate how to make three unique signature cocktails infused with fresh ingredients and small batch organic syrups. Together, they will speak about the bartending, mixology and hospitality industry and on the importance of a great cocktail and beverage program in your restaurant or establishment.  

Also added on Tuesday, March 5th from 2:00 – 3:00 pm Chef Ron Duprat, Food and Beverage Director/ Executive Chef at The Bridgewater Golf and Country Club, Carmel, Indiana also, best known as one of the top competitors on Bravo TV’s “Top Chef” will demonstrate a Crawfish Boil in honor of Fat Tuesday.  As a restaurateur and expert in exotic flavors, Chef Don Duprat has a zest for life that’s fueled in the kitchen by a passion for cooking.

The 2019 International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York will be held Sunday, March 3 – Tuesday, March 5 at the Javits Center in New York.
