New solutions, from ghost kitchens to touchless technology, are allowing us to reclaim and reinvent the business of hospitality.

And some of them are bringing us right back where we started – enter Bluezone by Middleby, created to bring guests back inside.

I recently saw this revolutionary air purification system in action at Room 623, Harlem’s newly reopened live jazz venue and subterranean speakeasy.

The club was an enthusiastic early adopter of Bluezone, the “centerpiece that allowed [them] to reopen,” as per Marcus Goldhaber, Creative Director, Host, and Emcee.

Singer Bluezone Middleby air purification
Bluezone is designed to blend with your establishment’s décor, from a vintage pressed-tin ceiling to plush, overstuffed seating.

Upon a quick scan when entering the venue, it’s clear that safety and comfort are paramount. With Bluezone, both are ensured.

The system uses ultraviolet light to clean the air and kill up to 99.9995% of airborne viruses, including SARS-CoV-2.

Unlike a physical filter that simply blocks viral transmission, Bluezone makes it impossible by destroying viruses’ RNA, eliminating the ability to replicate.

Air is pulled into the unit, where it’s scrubbed with ultraviolet light to inactivate airborne viruses and disinfect the air.

At the same time, oxidation catalysts destroy volatile organic compounds and unpleasant odors.

Purified air is then returned to the space.

The result? Air so clean, so odorless, that you notice it. Bluezone brings us one step closer to business as usual, or perhaps even better than usual.

The units can be customized to their surroundings, whether that means blending in or standing out.

Room 623’s plush décor already plays at the blue end of the color spectrum, combining overstuffed seating, a classic pressed tin ceiling, and neon accents over the bar, all in deep blues, violets, and greys.

In fact, their tag is #lookforthebluelight, so Bluezone is a great fit for the club in more ways than one, serving to complement the space while making it safer.

For your space, opt for wood paneling to match décor or ceiling mounting to ensure the unit is omnipresent but never in the way.

Whatever your Bluezone system configuration, maintenance is minimal.

Endless regular filter changes are in the past. Just budget about 15 minutes a year to replace the bulbs, and you’ll be covered.

We are thrilled to bring our customers, like Room 623, innovative solutions, like Bluezone by Middleby, every day.

Technology is proving to be the ingredient for our and their success, allowing for an industry restart. Jazz is playing, hospitality is flowing, and the air is clean, but seeing is believing.
