The passion, creativity, risks, and, surprises – come be inspired with us as we meet the people behind the emerging brands: the True Treps.
In this month’s “True Treps”, we meet Kyle Glanville, Co-Founder of the Los Angeles-based coffee concepts Go Get Em Tiger and G&B Coffee. Glanville started his work in the coffee industry when he was a college student in desperate need of a job. In 2012, after many years of working in the industry, Kyle and his business partner Charles Babinski decided to open their own company.
At Go Get Em Tiger and G&B Coffee, coffee selection is a very diligent process. “We measure and correlate as many different data points about moisture, roast age, roast color, roast degree, the water composition of that day, who is tasting the coffees, (and) how much the coffee extracted,” Kyle explains.
Looking back, Kyle says the first 18 months were the most challenging. “If I knew when I started this company what I know now, I don’t know that I would have the guts to go through that first year and a half…I did drain my 401(k), I did take all my savings and put it on the line.” In 2014, business exploded when The New York Times published an article called “The Best Iced Latte in America?” about Go Get Em Tiger. “We’ve changed courses from how do we survive…to how do we become a meaningful company that has a positive impact on everybody it touches,” Kyle says.
