It’s hard to ignore the drool-inducing food photos flooding our Instagram feeds. But who are the masterminds behind these viral accounts? Elliot Productions, a division of The Elliot Group and creators of TRUE TREPS®, is highlighting the foodies influencing this billion-dollar industry through social media in a new series called Behind The Foodie.
In this episode of Behind The Foodie, we meet Leigh Shirvan, the creator of Hungry Obsession (@HungryObsession). With more than 65,000 Instagram followers, one can assume operating a successful social media account is a fulltime job. Leigh, however, is also the founder of Leigh Aubrey Communications, where she works with companies on branding, social media marketing, and influencing marketing.
Although Leigh has the opportunity to visit many restaurants for Hungry Obsession and photograph delicious creations, she doesn’t post everything. “Generally I don’t want to post anything on my feed that I wouldn’t truly recommend,” Leigh says.
Leigh is confident that the work she and other influencers are doing is changing the way people dine. “People are veering towards Instagram as a tool to figure out where they want to go to eat,” Leigh explains, “and even go so far as to say they’re going to pick what they want to eat even before they walk in the restaurant because of the work we as influencers do.”
