During a recent visit to one of the world’s truly great companies, the extraordinary efforts underway to not only welcome employees back to the office really hit me in ways I had previously failed to fully appreciate. This global technology leader had always been known as one of the best places to work because of its amenities, but with continued uncertainty about employee willingness to actually return to the office foodservice and facilities professionals knew they needed to up their already world class game to create an even more spectacular workplace environment, employee experiences.

Of course, restaurants and hotels swung back to full operation before Corporate America, and in my many travels to these establishments I hear a rather different story, one well-known to every manager in the field: unabated labor shortages continue to take their toll.  However far apart welcoming office workers back might seem from properly staffing restaurants and the like, both are fruit from the same tree: employee experiences matter… a great deal!  Just as the leading technology company and all other corporations are going above and beyond to create uniquely wonderful office environments, more retail oriented businesses must set similar total employee experience priorities.

It doesn’t matter what part of North America you’re in, summer weather 2021 has been atrocious. Given global climate trends, this should neither come as a surprise nor is the weather something we can now only complain about. For any commercial property, weather’s impact has a direct employee experience and it’s hardly limited to temperature control. If there’s one place foodservice professionals smartly try to avoid it’s anywhere near your grease traps.  Employee sense of smell makes grease trap avoidance rather impossible to begin with, but summer weather’s effect on grease traps tarnishes even the most spirited, nasally deprived employee’s workplace experience. Improperly treated grease traps, or those relying solely on antiquated pumping methods are like a 5-star hotel for flies and other vermin.  Putting forth a best daily professional effort, epitomizing all of hospitality’s ideals, or even wanting to work in the field, becomes increasingly difficult navigating a veritable battlefield of insects and pests in your workplace.

Just as environmentally friendly technologies are used to clean oil spills, similarly advanced treatments are available for converting your grease traps from the most disgusting place in the building to a pest and smell free zone.  Not only will solving ages-old grease trap problems create a more inviting workplace experience, by taking an ecologically strong stand you will further validate your commitment to sustainable business practices, qualities research continues to show is critical for attracting and retaining superior employees.

Popular Plumbing, long recognized as the field’s leader in sustainable business practices is particularly well known for its sophisticated, environmentally sound microbial grease trap solutions that not only treat waste at the source and space by injecting microbials creating naturally digestive enzymes, the solution eliminates hoses draped from your traps to grease-hauling trucks parked outside that also pump co2 into the ozone as they complete rounds carrying some of the worst environmentally damaging stuff on the planet all around town.  Not only will your employees thank you for taking this step,  so will your infrastructure as Popular Plumbing’s proprietary natural process also protects your pipes from clogs typically caused by grease buildup.
