A global health crisis kicked off an economic crisis cruelly and negatively impacting hospitality more than any other industry on the planet.

While accelerated vaccine availability, Avendra’s recent report showing US hotel occupancies are on the rise, or Lyft’s last week in February being its best since Covid-19’s vice grip can be counted as reasons for optimism, foodservice will need much more to get fully back on track. Most likely and more specifically, from corporate dining to independent restaurants and hotels, without robust return to the workplace we cannot expect anything close to necessary volumes hospitality depends on to thrive.

Over this past year much has been written about work from home becoming another new normal as if Covid-19 kicked off something brand new.  In a September 1983 cover story “It’s 8:45—Do You Know Where Your Employees Are” cover story, Forbes magazine first reported on the emerging work from home phenomena.  More recently, in a November 2017 edition The Atlantic’s Jerry Useem’s When Working From Home Doesn’t Work offered a comprehensive retrospective on solitary work from home’s many drawbacks.  Although technology advancements certainly break down some barriers, decades of experience with distributed workforces produce the same results: productivity, essential collaboration, corporate culture are always enhanced when there is a shared office experience.

MIT Professor Thomas Allen actually quantified the positive social-productivity proximity impact through his Allen Curve analysis. It would then be fair to say that when it comes to fears that we will all become work from home hermits, we’ve been here before.  At the same time, Covid-19 aftershocks make this rather different and with so many companies still trying to figure out when or how to more fully bring staff back to the office, just relying on history as a guide for bringing business travel, lunch, dinner and events roaring back would be foolishly naïve. It will take something far more and compelling to create necessary safe conditions for hospitality’s renaissance.

Integrating highly engineered, rigorously tested and proven suite of technologies, products and services, Day & Nite Performance Solutions is the essential platform for assuring indoor environmental quality, workplace hygiene, visitor/guest health and food safety. Optimal conditions for bringing people back to the workplace, and by extension to your establishments, require ongoing, layered, active indoor environmental quality strategies flawlessly, collaboratively executed. Clearly, Day & Nite Performance Solutions stands apart as uniquely qualified leading experts, but to protect and enhance your business go further!

With rare exception, every foodservice establishment has a landlord.  Just as hospitality depends on business trade, property valuations will further suffer without high office occupancy,  and already depleted municipal revenues will further erode without a strong property tax base.  Taken together, while every foodservice business is wise to incorporate Day & Nite Performance Solutions unrivaled portfolio of high-impact technologies/services/products urging your landlords to do the very same for all their buildings is a catalyst for getting people out of their workday homes and back where they belong—in their offices, to your place of business.
