At the heart of the Latino market in the tri-state New York Metropolitan area, the “World of the Latino Cuisine: El Mundo de la Cocina Latina, a food products and beverage trade show, will showcase products from Latin America and the Caribbean on September 17-18, 2014, at the Meadowlands Expo Center in the New York/New Jersey market.

The trade show will provide a dynamic venue where Latino food producers will exhibit their offerings for the ever-growing Hispanic marketplace.

The show will feature an exhibit floor, workshops, and the participation of students from local culinary schools undertaking food preparations of the most delicious Latino recipes. “We are expecting a full house with the participation of many producers and importers” says William Colon, President and CEO of The Latino Institute, the show organizer. “It would be a great opportunity for them to identify new business opportunities and grow their markets,” adds Mr. Colon.

“We should remember Latino buying power reached about $1.3 trillion in 2013 and Hispanic shoppers spend significantly more than other groups on food consumed at home, due to the importance of family mealtime and larger family units. Now, the Latino food and beverage market is $8 billion strong, and growing each year. The truth is, we like to eat,” adds Mr. Colon.

This food and beverage trade show invites food manufacturers, producers and importers from the Caribbean and Latin American countries as exhibitors, and the attendance of buyers, merchandisers, distributors, small and medium sized specialty food stores, regional chains, caterers, restaurants, independents, and bodegueros. Exhibit categories include frozen foods, groceries, natural and organic products, beverages, and, in addition, non-food products. The event will provide an opportunity for participants to explore distribution channels serving, the growing Latino market in America.

“We are particularly proud the show will include students from New York-New Jersey Metro area culinary schools preparing Latino recipes for the enjoyment of the participants at the show,” says Carmen Torres, Coordinator of Educational Programs for the Institute. “Our sponsors will be providing scholarships, as well. So, it is just not about the industry, but about preparing our future chefs and professionals in the food service industry,” adds Ms. Torres.
