New Clorox Professional Product Set To Tackle The Toughest Restroom Stains and Odors in the Metro New York Foodservice and Hospitality Marketplace.
Foodservice professionals have a lot to think about when trying to deliver a quality dining experience, but according to research, restrooms need to be a major consideration. A Clorox Professional Products Company survey of U.S. adults found that 39 percent of Americans have immediately left a restaurant or other business because the restroom smelled liked urine.
Unfortunately, restrooms are one of the toughest jobs cleaning professionals face. Clorox Professional Products Company surveyed cleaning service industry decision makers and found that cleaning professionals rank removing urine stains (47%) and urine odors (52%) as most important among various restroom cleaning priorities. Yet, many cleaning professionals aren’t satisfied with existing products available to treat these issues.
Clorox Professional Products Company introduces Clorox® Urine Remover, a new and innovative product specially formulated to effectively remove stains and break down urine to quickly remove odors. The product does not contain bleach and is intended for use on porous surfaces such as grout and concrete, and a soft surface like mattresses, carpet and upholstery and is an excellent pre-treatment for laundry and bedding.
Clorox Professional Products Company understands the tough jobs cleaning staffs face and is committed to providing innovative solutions grounded in the science behind the clean. New Clorox® Urine Remover tackles the toughest jobs in restrooms and beyond: effectively removing urine stains and breaking down urine to eliminate – not just mask – odors.
“Urine presents one of the toughest jobs in cleaning commercial facilities and it demands a smart and effective way to solve ,” said Jennifer Case, marketing manager, Clorox Professional Products Company. “We listen carefully to our customers and the challenges they face and are committed to providing product solutions grounded in continuous innovation and a century of knowledge and experience to help tackle the most difficult restroom problems.”
Urine odor comes from naturally occurring microorganisms and uric acid crystals. Clorox® Urine Remover uses hydrogen peroxide to eliminate odor by destroying uric acid crystals and breaking down the cell structure of naturally occurring sources of odor. It removes stubborn stains quickly with the stain-lifting power of surfactants and solvents.
“The locker rooms at our stadium often smell bad, even after we’ve cleaned them,” said Zach Walter, operations manager of a metropolitan-area minor league baseball team. “This product really solved the problem – it eliminated odors that had persisted for months and also helped with stains in urinals and toilets.”
Clorox® Urine Remover is also tough on other fluids and solids such as vomit, feces, pet stains and grease. The product is ideal for use by cleaning professionals in restaurants, hotels, classrooms, healthcare facilities, locker rooms and high-traffic restrooms. Total Food spoke with Clorox Professional Products Company marketing manager Jennifer Case, to discuss more about the new cleaner.
Clorox Professional Products Company conducted some surveys prior to the Clorox® Urine Remover launch. Why the pressing need with so many bathroom cleaners out there already being used?
The results of our survey back up years of research. Our survey of cleaning industry decision makers found that many cleaning professionals were not satisfied with products available to treat urine odors and urine stains. This really confirms something we have known for many years through speaking with professionals in the industry – restrooms are tough and they demand an equally tough solution.
Clorox® Urine Remover addresses this and is unique because it eliminates odors by breaking down the naturally occurring sources of odor and removes stains quickly without the need for long contact times. Many other products simply mask odors. Additionally, it works on soft surfaces, as well as porous, such as grout, which are often where naturally occurring sources of odor remain trapped. Many other products cannot be used on porous and soft surfaces for both urine odor and stain removal.
Clorox® Urine Remover out-performs other common cleaning products, particularly enzymatic cleaners and Dilutable General Bathroom Cleaners (GBCs). Enzymatic cleaners are typically formulated at a neutral pH and do not clean urine stains as effectively and enzymes may be neutralized if a product with a high/low pH is used before or after it. GBCs won’t completely remove stubborn uric acid crystals from difficult to clean surfaces such as porous grout. Clorox® Urine Remover addresses both of these issues effectively.
Let’s face it, no one really wants the task of cleaning restrooms and with New York City’s letter grade system, it can make or break you, so you better be sure that you’ve trained your staff properly. How does Clorox® Urine Remover maker a cleaning staff’s job easier? How is it applied and does it take a longer to clean a restroom or other area with Clorox® Urine Remover?
We understand the challenges facing cleaning professionals when tackling public restrooms. Clorox® Urine Remover makes the task of cleaning restrooms easier in many ways.
- With Clorox® Urine Remover, the job gets done right the first time, so staff can stop mopping frequently with less effective products to stay on top of urine odors. This saves time cleaning and labor costs.
- In our survey we found that cleaning professionals need the job done faster – more than half would use a product that helps them clean a restroom faster on a daily basis. Clorox® Urine Remover eliminates odors and lifts stains without prolonged wait times.
- It comes in a ready to use formula. This ensures effective use and means cleaning staffs can skip the dilution step, making it easier to use.
- Minimal training is required to use Clorox® Urine Remover as it has low surface-safety concerns and can be used before or after other cleaning products.
- Clorox® Urine Remover is available in a 128oz spray jug, so professionals can tackle big jobs without returning to the janitor closet.
We didn’t realize most restroom cleaners only mask odors. How exactly does Clorox® Urine Remover eliminate them?
The odor from urine on bathroom surfaces comes from the naturally occurring microorganisms that feed on urine. Uric acid crystals (crystalized urine residue) often remain in porous surfaces, such as grout, and will emit urine odors. Humid conditions or wetting the surface reactivates odors. Clorox® Urine Remover uses hydrogen peroxide, which destroys uric acid crystals and breaks down the cell structure of naturally occurring sources of odor to completely eliminate odors, even if rewetted.
Is Clorox® Urine Remover safe on all materials? Should it not be used on certain material like brass. etc.?
Clorox® Urine Remover can be used on many porous and soft surfaces such as tile, grout, concrete, carpets, mattresses and upholstery. It is not recommended for brass or natural marble and should not be used on silk or leather upholstery.
Is Clorox® Urine Remover a daily, weekly, or monthly treatment solution?
Clorox® Urine Remover should be used to treat urine as the problem occurs. The sooner a stain can be cleaned the better, as older or set-in stains may require the product to soak or be re-applied.
Is the product dilutable and does it have any outdoor uses or applications?
A great benefit of Clorox® Urine Remover is that it comes in a ready to use formula and is not diluatable, which makes it easier to use, and easier to use correctly. It can be used on outdoor surfaces. However, prior to use, wash outdoor surfaces with water to remove debris and soils and don’t not allow the product or rinse water to enter storm drains, lakes, streams or other bodies of water.
